Temporary Ability from Summerfest quest is still on my screen
Hi there,
I've been in contact with the GMs for over a week now trying to resolve this, but since none of their suggestions have helped so far, I thought I'd see if anyone here has an idea of what I could try to resolve this.
To make this simple, here's the text of my currently open petition, which explains the issue and the steps I've tried to get rid of the temp icon:

Hi there,
about a week or two ago I did the Summerfest Scavenger Hunt quests on this character, specifically the one in Scarwood Reach where you have to plant trees by using a temporary ability (called "Plant a tree!").
I finished that quest, the rewards went into my quest loot bag, but before I could claim them, the server crashed (I was playing on Faeblight at the time). When the server came back up, the quest rewards were still in my loot bag and could be claimed. However, the icon for the temporary ability "Plant a tree!", which had vanished after finishing the quest, was back now.
And it's been on my screen ever since, even though the quest was finished. Since it's purely a cosmetic issue and doesn't impact my gameplay much (apart from taking up a bit of screen space), I waited for Summerfest to end to see if it would go away then, but it hasn't - it's still here.
Is there any way you could remove it please?
Thanks & Regards,
A.

Hello ...!
Thanks for contacting us regarding temporary abilities. After reviewing your issue we've determined that this is likely caused by the User Interface layout. This may be resolved using the following steps in-game:
1. Press the 'Esc' key and select 'Edit Layout' from the menu options.
2. Normally located on the left side of the screen, you will find a command box labeled 'Edit Layout.'
3. Select 'Defaults'. This will reset any customizations to the layout back to the default settings.
4. In the In-Game chat box, type /reloadui and hit enter.
If this process does not work, you may want to go to the 'Settings' menu under the 'Esc' menu and adjust your resolution through the advanced video settings.
If this hasn't corrected the issue, or if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know! Thanks for your continued support of Trion Worlds and for playing RIFT. Your reference number for this question is ....
Sincerely,

Hello,
thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, none of them have resolved the issue. I reverted back to the default UI, and then did /reloadui, and I also changed the screen resolution, but I still have the icon from the "Plant a tree" temporary quest ability on my screen.
I have found that I can go into the lower half of the Edit Layout window (which is dedicated to various settings about the temporary ability bar), and uncheck the "Enabled" option to make it disappear. However, this is not a feasible workaround, as this will disable ALL temporary abilities - meaning that when I do another quest that requires a temp ability, it will not be doable until I enable it again.
It looks like when Faeblight crashed a few weeks ago just after I'd done the related Summerfest quest, there might have been a partial rollback - while the quest itself stayed flagged as completed, the temp ability wasn't removed and is still active (but not useable because there is no related quest anymore).
I would appreciate you looking into this matter further.
Thanks & kind regards,
A.

Hello ...!
Thanks for contacting us regarding RIFT.
I realize this can be frustrating and I'm happy to assist you in the matter. After reviewing your issue further we've determined that this may be resolved using the command /reloadui while in-game, however, if this does not correct the issue you may need to reload your UI and recover your client.
If you are currently using any Add-ons please follow these steps to disable them before attempting a full recovery. If the problem persists, please follow the recovery instructions below
To disable your addons:
1. Start the RIFT Client
2. At the Character Select screen push the "Addons" button at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click the "Disable All" button.
4. Press OK.
5. Restart Client.
To reload your UI:
1. While in game, press the 'Esc' key and select 'Settings' from the menu
2. Select 'Display' from the 'Interface' drop down menu.
3. Hit the button 'Reset UI'
4. Select 'Yes' for the confirmation box when asked if you would like to reset your UI settings to default.
If this has not corrected the issue, please attempt to recover your game client. To recover your game client:
1. Launch the Glyph client
2. Select RIFT in the left column
3. Right-click on RIFT and select 'Repair'
4. Allow the repair process to go through
5. Attempt to relaunch your game
If these steps still haven't corrected the issue, or if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know! Thanks for your continued support of Trion Worlds and for playing RIFT. Your reference number for this question is ...

Hello,
disabling my addons and repairing the Rift client (which didn't report any errors, by the way) did not resolve the issue, the temporary ability icon is still here.
Reloading the Default UI again (I had tried that already after you suggested it in your first reply on 7/31/2014 6:46 am) did not help either.
At this point I really don't think it is a client issue, as it seems to be related to a quest not clearing up properly, and I would be surprised if data related to quest status would be stored client-side in Rift.
So while I'm certainly open to further ideas of things I could try that haven't already been suggested, I would appreciate you also looking into this from your side of things.
Thank you & Regards,
A.
So, what do you think? Could this be a client problem, or (as I suspect) more of an issue with a quest flag somewhere on my account? Has anyone else here had that happen before?
