FPS loss Adventure.
I was having some issues running the game well right after the X-mass/Conquest update and ended up changing my setting until I found something that was playable. It was .... interesting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Short Version:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are my specs and settings:
My Rig:
AMD Radeon HD 7970 3072 MB GDDR5 925 MHz
Windows Version - Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) 64bit
System Memory - Crucial 8 GB 1866 mhz
CPU Type - AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4 GHz (OC 4.25 GHz)
SSD OCZ-VERT EX4 SATA Disk Device
Monitor(s) - 3x BenQ 2420HD 2msGTG
System Setps: (Always reboot when requested.)
Radeon Settings
In game under
Settings->Video->Advanced
Quality Presets: High then modified as follows:
Last and NOT least
Set CPU Priority for rift.exe to High
Runs better and LOOKS better.
22-31 FPS in the Open World
19-25 in an NTE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Long Version:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before these updates I was running on high around 35fps(FPS capped to this in radeon settings). With the seasonal content came some problems that caused general sub par play the the conquest patch drove the game to new lows.
After the conquest update/tweak the games ran as follows:
I started by testing the lowest settings and only got marginal gains.
I got up to 12 FPS in Open World / 2-7 FPS in a NTE/RoF/HK. After all of this with hardly a noticeable improvement I turned to my rig and started to tune it up.
Here is what I did:
It boosted my performance in every game except rift until I setup the two marked with **. I run Crysis 3 on high pretty well and BiO Shock 3 is sweeeeet eye candy. So I Set rift up like the other games (as mentioned above) and it worked better in higher setting then lower ones. Mind boggling but hey I can at least play now.
I question the ability of this game to manage resources because currently Rift doesn't even use more then a few cores and/or over 40% of my GPU.
I hope this helps someone else.

- Do a virus/malware/spyware secruity scan if you haven't in the last couple of days
- Make a Restore point
- Update all of your drivers and use the removal tool from your manufacturer if they have one
- Do a disk clean/defrag.
- Reboot

- 18-21 FPS Down from 35 FPS (Max fps limit I have set in hardware otherwise it's 50+ FPS)
- Sluggish play
- Skipping (warping)
- Video tearing
After the conquest update/tweak the games ran as follows:
- 3-7 FPS
- Lag spikes (Stop the game solid like it's processing excessively large files)
- Cannot run with even a single add-on (Causes further lag and 1 FPS max)
- Once I start to fight, 800ms latency. (Baffled by this)
I started by testing the lowest settings and only got marginal gains.
- Setting all video settings to the minimum
- Checked off the lower quality buttons
- Set my resolution to about 50% of my native setting
- Turned off Cloaks, shadows, ATF, AA and anything marks as GPU/CPU heavy
- Turned off All Add-ons
- Closed All background apps
- Made rift.exe High Priority
- Changed my config to lower settings to the lowest they can go
- Followed General Steps For Low FPS Issues found in the rift forums.
I got up to 12 FPS in Open World / 2-7 FPS in a NTE/RoF/HK. After all of this with hardly a noticeable improvement I turned to my rig and started to tune it up.
Here is what I did:
- Ran security scanner just in case
- Made a restore point*** (Always do this first)
- Updated all my drivers, removed old versions restored everything to factory defaults.
- Cleaned off as much HDD/Reg/junk files as I could find
- Uninstalled old apps I no longer need/use
- Removed 2 of the 3 monitors to see if the video processing for all three was adding to the problem
- Rebooted everything that I power. PC, Router, Modem, file servers and the coffee pot.(3am at this point)
- **Changed my video setting to make my card override Rifts settings
- **Up scaled my gfx settings in game to make use of the changes
It boosted my performance in every game except rift until I setup the two marked with **. I run Crysis 3 on high pretty well and BiO Shock 3 is sweeeeet eye candy.
